How to decide if your parents need more help

Making the decision that your elderly parents need care can be a difficult one. You may encounter reluctance from them, whereby they think they are managing by themselves and do not want a stranger in their home. You may need to have multiple conversations about what care is needed, perhaps focusing on one or two needs to begin with.

You should look out for signs of decline, as these are a good indicator that your loved ones may need some support. For example, if they are struggling with basic daily tasks such as dressing themselves, the ability to prepare their own meals, issues with walking or driving, and failure to remember fundamental things such as taking medication, going to appointments or paying bills.

Choosing the right in-home elderly care services

Once you and your loved ones have agreed that more help would be beneficial, in-home elderly care services can provide a realistic alternative to residential care. Remaining in their own home is a good way for your parents to retain their independence, whilst receiving the support they need. If you live some distance from them and are unable to visit on a regular basis, loneliness can become an issue. Our companion style of care provides not only the practical support with personal care, it also offers a familiar friendly face and allows for relationships between our carers and their clients to develop, giving you the reassurance that your parents are well cared for.

We are here to support you through the process of choosing the right care package for your parent(s) and our experienced Care Managers can take you through all of the care options available to you. The care matching process between each client and carer is carefully managed to ensure that a successful and trusting relationship is established. All of our Care Assistants are well trained and are employed by us. We never use agency staff to service our clients.

In-home elderly care services that we offer include:

  • Hourly daytime care, with visits from two hours, offering high-quality care and companionship
  • Live-in care, where our exceptional carers live side-by-side with your loved ones to give them full support.
  • Overnight care, choose from sleepover or waking night care depending on the individuals’ needs.
  • Dementia and Alzheimer’s care, our specialised care packages are tailored to the individuals’ needs.
  • Respite care, enables family members who care for others to take a break and recharge.

All of the clients that we care for on a regular basis have access to our emergency call out service, 24/7 and 365 days of the year, giving you peace of mind that there is always someone on hand should you or your loved ones need support.
