Caring for the generation
Giving you and your family more time for making memories
Back in 2007, Tim and Louise Cocking, and their extended family were in the position that many families find themselves in these days; arranging support for an elderly relative, in this case, Tim’s grandmother Myrtle. Tim’s family found the challenges in gathering the right information about the seemingly limited options for care quite frustrating. It seemed an impossible task to work out what services were available, how one accesses them, how much they cost, whether they would fit in alongside the family’s caregiving efforts, but most importantly whether they would take in account Tim’s grandmother’s preferences. Even clarity on costs and any statutory contributions was not very forthcoming.
It became clear that they would not be able to create a bespoke care package that met not only Myrtle’s emotional and practical day to day needs, but also respected her wish to remain in her own home for as long as possible.
Tim and Louise quickly realised that not only was the limited “one size fits all” approach taken by local authorities simply not working for so many families, but that the system of organising care was unnecessarily complex, time consuming and for some simply exhausting. Thus the idea for Bright Care was born.
A Unique & Award-Winning Approach
Bright Care is proud to do things differently – our clients and staff are at the heart of everything that we do. By focussing on the holistic needs of each client, we tailor our care packages in order to deliver the best care possible.
Our approach is unique, but simple:
- Focus on Elderly Care. We focus our high quality staff training on the many unique conditions that come hand in hand with old age.
- Companionship. Our minimum 2-hour visits realise the enormous benefits that good quality companionship can bring to a person’s quality of life.
- Privately Paying Clients. We maintain full control of the high standards of care our staff deliver by caring only for privately paying clients.
- Matched Companion Carers. There is not a single member of our team that we are not excited to be working with each day. Each Companion Carer has been hand-picked for their genuine, caring attitude and evident kindness towards others. We match clients and carers based on shared values, interests and personality.
This unique approach has earned us many accolades over the years, most recently Scottish Housing Support Provider of the Year at the 2017 Scottish Care Awards.
A Bright Future
From one small office in Edinburgh, to five branches spread throughout Scotland, we collectively support almost 350 clients. By continuously employing exceptional people we will continue to deliver an excellent standard of care. As we expand by opening more local branches throughout the UK we will always stay true to our family ethos, core values and attention to customer service – ultimately doing things “The Bright Care Way.”
