Meet Karen, our Bright Care Training Academy Staff Trainer
At Bright Care, we know that our employees are at the heart of everything we do. That is why we believe in investing in our people. Every new Carer who joins our team receives an in person induction at our Bright Care Training Academy as well as ongoing training throughout their career.
Karen is our new Staff Trainer and has responsibility for delivering our training. Karen was looking for a career change when she applied to work as a Carer at Bright Care two and a half years ago. Earlier this year, her Branch Manager recognised that Karen would be an excellent fit in the Bright Care Training Academy and encouraged her to apply for the role.
At Bright Care, one of our values is ‘Championing People’ and we love to help our employees grow, develop and succeed in the workplace. Karen’s move into the role of Staff Trainer really demonstrates this value in action and we are delighted to have her in her new role.
We recently caught up with Karen to ask her more about her career at Bright Care.
Why did you choose to work for Bright Care?
In 2021, I decided it was time for a career change. I had not long had my daughter, so I wanted something that would fit in around my family. I found that Bright Care’s values and beliefs were in line with my own and I really like their companionship style of care. I am a very people-oriented person, so a career in care felt right for me.
What is the company vision for the Bright Care Training Academy?
We want to deliver a comprehensive training curriculum for all our new Carers, so that they are fully prepared when working with their clients. We believe in giving all of our Carers the best start to their career in care as possible. We use a combination of face-to-face, virtual and online training to deliver content which connects them directly with the day-to-day requirements of caring for those in their later years.
What characteristics do you look for in Bright Carers?
I personally look for people who have a caring nature, with a bright and bubbly personality and who have empathy and understanding. I love working with people, as everyone has a different story that makes them a unique individual. Having a variety of people from different backgrounds and age groups is what makes Bright Care great.
What makes Bright Care different?
Bright Care genuinely cares about its clients, the care they receive and its employees. I have always felt that if you look after your employees, they will look after your clients and everything else business wise will follow and Bright Care truly embodies this idea. There is a genuine family feel to Bright Care, which is why I enjoy both the job I do and the contribution I make.
