Staceyโs interview
We spoke to Stacey, a Care Assistant in our Glasgow branch who has worked at Bright Care for 10 years, about her experience:

When did you apply for the role as a Care Assistant at Bright Care?
I have worked for Bright Care since June 2016 after seeing the role of Care Assistant advertised on the internet.
What attracted you to apply for the job?
I was attracted to the job at Bright Care as it sounded very rewarding, full of care and compassion for the elderly. It sounded like there was the opportunity to spend lots of quality time with clients and not be rushed. At the time, I was looking after my Grandpa which is what got me interested in a career in care. Bright Care offered me the flexibility I needed to keep caring for him alongside my clients.
What do you enjoy about your role?
I enjoy everything about my role as a Care Assistant in Bright Care, the clients are lovely. Even if it is a harder client to look after, knowing you have helped someone and enabled them to stay in their own home is so rewarding.
I enjoy all the different aspects of the role. From cooking, to singing in choirs like I did with a couple I looked after a few years ago, to just sitting enjoying a jigsaw or helping someone get out for a walk or getting to the shops.
Waking up to go to work in the morning has never been so enjoyable.
How have you been supported by management and the wider team?
I am hugely supported by the Care Managers in my Glasgow branch, they help any way they can and are always there to listen. I couldn’t ask for better support even when Iโve had a family issue, they have been there for me.
What development opportunities have you been given?
I have been lucky enough to be given development opportunities by my Care Manager. For the past two years, I cover the on-call phone for the branch when they have conferences or team training. This means I am the key contact for all Care Assistants across the business and support them with any issues they may have.
How do your branch recognise your hard work and dedication?
We always get praise for anything we do well. The Branch Managers have previously got me flowers or spa kits for recognising hard work. We also get the opportunity to choose a Carer we think has done well and nominate them for a Carer commendation. This year I got a commendation and we were all taken out for a lovely lunch.
Would you recommend Bright Care to someone looking for a career in care?
Bright Care has been the best company I have ever worked for.
Everyone is so nice and very supportive. It is like a family and I really feel that. The values are strong and you can see that from the wonderful people that make Bright Care what it is. I would most definitely recommend Bright Care to anyone looking for a career in care. Bright Care hasn’t just helped with my career life, it has helped me with my own life in ways I couldn’t have imagined, from dealing with situations better to being able to help with my own family members and the care they needed.
