Tim Cocking started Bright Care after he observed many families struggle to navigate the options available for elderly care. He was frustrated that care was often focused on completing tasks rather than encouraging social connection. Starting with one small office in Edinburgh in 2009, Bright Care has grown and now operates across Scotland and the South of England, providing in-home care that brings joy to clients in their later years.
We are delighted that, over the years, our culture and commitment to quality have been recognised with a number of awards. External recognition is really meaningful because it shows others the hard work, dedication and professionalism of all staff. It also reassures families that the standards Tim set from the beginning are being lived out every day.

Bright Care Awards
As well as external awards, we also hold our own Bright Care awards for staff across the business.
Every year in March, we hold The Bright Care Awards for management at the Sky Bar in Edinburgh. These awards are an opportunity to recognise and reward the effort and hard work from the previous year. There are four branch awards: Sales Award, Contribution Awards, New Clients Award, Recruitment Award and Marketing Award as well as Extra Special Contribution Awards for individual members of staff who have gone above and beyond during the year.
Our Care Assistants also receive recognition for their contribution to the success of the business. Each branch celebrates their own staff with an event like afternoon tea, a meal or an awards night. Care Assistants are nominated by their clients and awards are given for staff who demonstrate our values: Can Do, Own It, Championing People, One Team.
Why awards are important
Receiving external awards and rewarding our staff is hugely important at Bright Care. External recognition is deeply meaningful as it serves a dual purpose: to publicly validate the hard work, dedication, and professionalism of all our staff, and critically, to reassure families that the high standards.
Recognising the contribution of our staff is important because it provides an opportunity to formally recognise and reward the hard work, dedication, and professionalism of all staff throughout the year, reinforcing the company’s commitment to quality.
